Český Brod (Kolín Region) - The cinema at the station in Český Brod is set to be transformed into a modern cultural and information center. The town hall is negotiating the possibilities for its reconstruction with architect David Vávra. The costs will definitely exceed the city's budget, it won't be manageable without subsidies, said deputy mayor Jakub Nekolný to ČTK.
The renovated building should include, among other things, an information center, a DVD rental, or a café. The library should also move into it.
The city is also discussing the use of the building with local non-profit organizations and civic associations. It followed a similar approach during the renovation of the building on Husova Square, where the civic association Leccos operates the Kostička Maternity Center. The renovation was financed from a grant from the Central Bohemian Region, contributions from entrepreneurs, proceeds from charity events, and from the city budget. "We have thus brought together a deteriorating municipal property and found a use for it," added Nekolný.
The cinema renovation will connect with the planned reconstruction of the nearby bus and train station. The construction of the new transport terminal is estimated to cost at least 40 million crowns, and the city will apply for a subsidy from the European Union.
