Brno - Brno is set to receive approximately 150 million crowns from developers who are planning, for example, the construction of apartments in the city. The city will then use this money to build related infrastructure such as sidewalks, kindergartens, or parking lots. CTK was informed by Mayor Markéta Vaňková (ODS). The fund for development projects was established last year. Its aim is to foster cooperation between the city and investors so that the preparatory process is free from unnecessary delays and costs, and that new buildings are accompanied by the necessary civic amenities.

Cooperation is not enshrined in law, and developers can voluntarily subscribe to it. Based on agreements, they will then provide the city with a contribution of 800 crowns per square meter of net floor area of the construction project. "I am very glad that developers welcome this as well. It is also advantageous for them to know what conditions they can expect. And I believe they fully realize that this infrastructure is also necessary," Vaňková stated.

Investors can either build the related infrastructure themselves or contribute to the city, which will then construct kindergartens, sidewalks, greenery, or parking lots. "So far, we have concluded 14 agreements, and based on these, around 150 million crowns are expected to flow into the fund. This is being gradually fulfilled. We currently have about 23 million in the account," Vaňková said. Contributions have come from IMOS Development, which is building the Svratka Residence, as well as Eiskon Develop, which is planning the Augarten complex, and Západní Brána Brno in connection with the construction of apartments in the Západní brána area.

Brno calls on investors to inform the city of their intentions during the preparation phase. According to the city, this can help avoid delays, unnecessary costs, and reach an agreement on the form of the built-up area.
