Brno - The municipal district of Brno-Bosonohy is reportedly threatened by the new territorial plan that is currently being discussed at the Brno magistrate's office. This is claimed by activists and local residents who participated in a discussion about it on Wednesday. According to them, two out of three variants of the territorial plan do not take into account that the planned transport constructions will increase noise and dust levels in this district. The limits are already being exceeded. According to engineers and architects from Arch. Design, the company preparing the territorial plan, the approved variant will meet legal standards. Local residents are most concerned about how the city will address the R43 road and its planned connection to the D1 highway. Both constructions will have an impact on the quality of life for residents of the district. Brno is currently preparing three variants of the territorial plan concept, of which two include the R43, while the third does not because it would be routed outside the city of Brno. Furthermore, the city expects that the D1 will be expanded to six lanes in the future. According to the head of the Citizens for the Protection of Living Standards in Brno-Bosonohy association and district councillor Marie Špačková, locals would prefer the R43 to run around Brno. If the roads intersect near Bosonohy, noise and dust levels would increase unacceptably, and residents of the district "could move to the nearby cemetery in Troubsko." "There is a noise map of the city of Brno, which clearly shows that noise limits are being unlawfully exceeded. The air quality report of the city of Brno also indicates that levels of particulate matter are elevated in Bosonohy," said Špačková. "The city has these maps as a basis for the creation of the territorial plan. I have not seen any changes in the proposed territorial plan," she added.
