Brno - The Regional Council of the Southeast approved a European subsidy today for the construction of a water park in Pasohlávky in the Brno region. The project will receive 331 million crowns from European funds. Another nearly 900 million crowns will be added by the investor ŽS REAL, a.s. Construction will begin this autumn. This was stated in a press release today by the Office of the Regional Council of the Southeast Cohesion Region. The company aims to build the water park in a spa and recreational zone measuring nearly eight football fields. The Moravia THERMAL complex will be one of the most modern tourist and spa centers in the Czech Republic. "There is a lack of a facility of this size in South Moravia," said Renata Vörösová from ŽS REAL, a subsidiary of the Brno construction company Stavcom - HP a.s. According to Vörösová, the complex will be ready for the summer season in 2013. The preparation of the project took the company three years. Visitors will enjoy approximately eight indoor and outdoor pools with relaxation features, 17 types of water slides and attractions, sports fields, and other accompanying services such as Roman baths, a cryo zone, massages, whirlpools, individual bath treatments, etc. All of this will utilize natural resources in the form of geothermal water with temperatures up to 46 degrees Celsius. The complex will also include restaurants, retail spaces, parking for 350 cars, and ten buses. Moravia THERMAL will focus primarily on families with children. "We anticipate that about every other resident from the South Moravian region will visit our new water park within the next two years," Vörösová stated. Moravia THERMAL is part of a project that forms the Spa and Recreational Zone of Pasohlávky. It seeks to maximize the potential of the Pasohlávky location for tourism in South Moravia and to create a tourist center near Pálava and the Lednice-Valtice Area. In direct connection with the project, 81 new jobs are expected to be created. The area around Pasohlávky is already among the sought-after recreational areas, next to the village there is one of the largest campsites in the Czech Republic.
