The acoustic equipment of the concert hall of the Imperial Baths will be complemented by a curtain around the walls

Karlovy Vary - The Karlovy Vary Region will complete the last part of the acoustic equipment in the concert hall of the Imperial Spa. The sliding curtain around the hall will also serve as blackout. The region will pay approximately seven million crowns for the addition of acoustic elements, said the governor Petr Kulhánek (for STAN) to ČTK.

"The unique hall in the atrium, which serves both for concerts and various other social events, has variable acoustics. But mainly for concerts, whether classical music or others, it still needs acoustic regulation depending on the type of production. Therefore, the principle of blackening and soundproofing the hall was designed. It works on the principle of a curtain that wraps around the entire horseshoe of the hall and can expand and retract as needed," Kulhánek said.

The concert hall in the atrium of the Imperial Spa has a unique solution, as it only touches the actual object of national cultural heritage at the floor level. The structure was brought into the atrium by crane through the roof. The stage and the auditorium can also be adjusted as needed. The acoustics are already regulated by triangular elements that rotate, changing the sound characteristics in the hall. Soundproofing of the walls should be the last element.

According to Kulhánek, the installation of the blackout and soundproofing should be completed by May 20. The goal is for the hall to be acoustically prepared for this year's Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. Although the festival will not include the hall, which can also serve as a cinema, among its festival cinemas, it may be used for special screenings, for example. However, the festival is counting on the Imperial Spa for other accompanying events that take place during the festival, Kulhánek told ČTK.
