The London stadium at Wembley, which underwent a radical reconstruction by Norman Foster, celebrated its grand reopening on March 24, 2007. The green pitch was inaugurated by the boots of English and Italian footballers in a match for under-21 players. With a capacity of 90,000 seats, it is the largest stadium of its kind in the world and, with costs around 1.2 billion Euros, certainly also the most expensive. Besides football, the stadium can also host championships in athletics. A notable structural feature (which is also the biggest problem and a new symbol of the entire building) is the 133-meter high steel arch that carries the entire weight of the northern roof and half the weight of the southern roof. This arch, with a span of 315 meters, holds another world record: it is the longest single roof structure in the world. The main purpose of the arch is to ensure that no columns from the roof structure disrupt the spectators' view of the field. Foster's office is the white horse of the fictional Guinness Book of Architectural Records. Link>
