Paris - One Czech and two Slovak monuments are on the list of 47 cultural and natural sites, the inclusion of which on the prestigious UNESCO list will be discussed by the organization's World Heritage Committee in Quebec at the beginning of July. From the Czech Republic, it is Luhačovice with its ensemble of buildings by architect Dušan Jurkovič, and from Slovakia, the wooden churches in the eastern part of the country and the fortress in Komárno. Slovakia is pursuing its inscription together with Hungary. The organization published the list of sites to be discussed in Quebec today in Paris.

The committee will also discuss the status of thirty monuments that are on the overall list but categorized as endangered. "Special attention" will be paid according to the communiqué to the Elbe Valley near Dresden. It was listed as endangered due to plans to build a bridge in protected areas across the river. The committee may decide to remove the monument from the overall list.
The committee may also add other items of world heritage to the endangered list that do not meet the required criteria for various reasons. Prague might come into consideration here due to the plan to construct high-rise buildings in Pankrác.
There are currently 851 items from 141 countries on the UNESCO World Heritage list (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization).
The Czech Republic has twelve monuments on the list, while Slovakia has five. Next year, both countries intend to jointly propose that the Slavic stronghold in Mikulčice and the Church of St. Margaret in Kopčany, which belong to the Great Moravian heritage, be inscribed on the list.
Other locations that the committee will discuss for potential inscription in Quebec include, for example, the cultural landscape of the island of Bali, the Italian cities of Mantua and Sabbionetta, the biosphere reserve of monarch butterflies in Mexico, and the historic center of San Marino and Monte Titano. San Marino is one of five states striving for its first inscription. The others are Kyrgyzstan, Papua New Guinea, Saudi Arabia, and Vanuatu.
