Toyo Ito v Mies's Gallery

The Japanese architect Toyo Ito took on the adaptation of the ground floor of Mies's Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin. In the following three months (07.06 - 03.10.2006), his white undulating landscape will be part of the exhibition ”Berlin-Tokyo/Tokyo-Berlin“ showcasing the art of these two metropolises. Curator Carson Chan approached Toyo Ito, who filled the geometrically strict and symmetrical lobby space with an undulating wooden floor. You can view photographs from the construction process - here.
