While we are preparing a report on the Berlin Bauhaus Archive by Walter Gropius from 1978, the results of the competition for the expansion of this heritage-protected building have been announced. It was won by the Japanese duo SANAA. Perhaps this office is also the only one that can realize the intangible and transparent visualizations that have recently become prevalent. Their glass administrative tower will have to make way for a generous ramp leading to Gropius's archive. According to the jury, the project was selected for: its quality internal operation, functional connection to the already existing repositories, large and divisible spaces, as well as intimate galleries. No second prize was awarded, and the third place was shared by Volker Staab and the duo sauerbruch hutton architekten. More information - here.
