Magnolia Tower in Dubai by Sadar Vuga Architects

The project of a luxury apartment building at the foot of Burj Dubai by the Slovenian studio Sadar Vuga Arhitekti is designed based on the main requirement of the developer Damac Properties, to create another unique building in the rapidly growing surroundings of the tallest structure, Burj Dubai, which will be instantly recognizable due to its architectural solution. At the same time, it should be an energy-efficient residential building that meets the comforts of the early 21st century.
The orientation of the land in the given area allows the apartments to have a view of the Burj Dubai tower from the outdoor balconies and terraces. This orientation is also beneficial as it allows the tower's perimeter to extend towards the north and northwest - towards the Burj Dubai tower.
The shape of a typical floor of the residential tower was created based on previous observations and on a modular system of trapezoidal residential units. The resulting organic shape of the individual floors evokes the image of a flower. Smaller apartments and those that can be connected are located on the north and northwest sides, while larger apartments are situated on the east and west sides.
- The resulting silhouette of the tower is determined by the orientation of the apartments towards Burj Dubai and the solution of weather conditions.
- The entire tower is enveloped in a membrane that gradually opens towards the north, where the balconies overlook Burj Dubai. In contrast, on the south side, where there is the greatest risk of potential overheating, the tower closes itself.
-The delicate membrane made of prefabricated panels wraps the entire tower as well as the ground floor pedestal.
-The shape of the tower and its facade give it an iconic expression from both near and far.
-The individual apartments in the tower are composed on a hexagonal floor plan to provide the greatest comfort, as well as to ensure maximum flexibility and the possibility of merging units with each other.
