Summer in London this year will be dedicated to Chilean architects. Smiljan Radic will design the fourteenth summer pavilion for the Serpentine Gallery, and the Chilean studio GUN Architects has been commissioned for the summer installation at the London AA Gallery. Their pavilion, titled "Tropical Rainforest," will be located in front of the famous Architectural Association school in the southwest corner of Bedford Square. The summer pavilion will open on May 17 and will be accessible to the public all day until July 19. The pavilion will be part of London’s Festival of Architecture as well as a showcase of student projects that annually emerge from the Architectural Association. However, it will not be a continuation of the tradition of summer pavilions that were created at the same location between 2005-09 under the direction of Charles Walker and Martin Self. The impressive five-meter installation by GUN Architects, composed of fabric stalactites, will be sprinkled with circulating water, creating a refreshing oasis in the middle of London.
