Judicial Center in Oregon by Morphosis

On November 26, 2006, local newspapers reported the completion and handover of a new judicial center in Eugene, Oregon. The author of the Wayne L. Morse U.S. Courthouse is architect Thom Mayne from the California office of Morphosis. The building, with an area of 26,000 m², cost 75 million dollars. The new center consists of two parts and a low two-story building serving as a foyer. Unlike the glazed ground floor building, the remaining four-story wings are clad in metal facades, which create a strong horizontal division due to various folds. The curved lines give the impression that the house is wrapped in metal ribbons. The theme of stripes also appears inside, particularly in the wooden paneling of the courtrooms. Link>
