The renowned Czech architect and designer Eva Jiřičná has been elected to the board of the Design Museum in London. The proposal for her appointment was unanimously approved by the nominating committee, considering her extraordinary contribution to architecture and significant influence in the world of design.

Eva Jiřičná has been living and working in London for over 45 years. In 1984, she founded her own studio - Eva Jiricna Architects Limited. In 1999, together with Petr Vágner, she opened the studio AI - DESIGN in Prague. Both studios provide comprehensive services, including designs for public and private buildings, bridges, renovations, complete interior solutions, exhibitions, furniture, and other unique items. They are renowned for their meticulously crafted designs using traditional materials: glass, steel, and stone.

The clients of the studios include significant companies and institutions from around the world, such as Amec, Harrods, Boodle & Dunthorne, Prague Castle, the Royal Academy of Arts, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Sekyra Group, the British Council, Tomas Bata University in Zlin, and others. The studios have received numerous international awards for design, and their work has been published in the media. Eva Jiřičná has garnered recognition for her personal approach in architecture and design – she has been awarded the title of Royal Industrial Designer, the Order of the British Empire for design, elected a member of the Royal Academy of Arts, and inducted into the American Hall of Fame.

One of the most significant Czech architects, Eva Jiřičná, was recommended for nomination by Michaela and Zdeněk Bakala, who are long-term supporters and partners of the Design Museum. "Eva Jiřičná is one of the true personalities in the field of architecture and design, and her unique expertise will be a valuable contribution to the further development and direction of the Design Museum," states the nomination.

The Design Museum in London and the Bakala couple are also connected through their collaboration on the Kaplicky Internship project. The program, organized by the Bakala Foundation, offers students and recent graduates in architectural fields from Czech universities the opportunity to spend three months on a paid internship at one of the prestigious London studios.
