Valašské Meziříčí (Vsetínsko) - The Museum of the Valašsko Region will open an exhibition titled "Transformations of Valašské Meziříčí" on Tuesday. It will showcase architectural gems and landmarks of the city, outline its urban development, as well as changes throughout the 20th century. The exhibition in the intimate hall of the Kinský Castle will also offer a number of interactive elements for playful visitors, informed the museum spokesperson Simona Hlaváčová today. Visitors at the castle will see old maps, drawings, and photographs that illustrate not only the former appearance but also the atmosphere and charm of the city, which has stood at the confluence of the Rožnov and Vsetín Bečva rivers for over eight centuries. "In addition to education, visual pleasure, and entertainment, visitors can also participate in guided walks around the city, which will take place regularly every Wednesday at 10:00 throughout the duration of the exhibition," said the exhibition curator Kamila Valoušková. In the paintings, visitors will also view already vanished corners of the city, such as the cozy café of Antonín Duřpek. In front of a nearly two-meter painting depicting Krásno at the end of the 1930s, a model of a 1922 Citroen car will be parked, in which people will be able to take photos. Projects and visualizations by architect Zdeněk Trefil relating to changes in the city's appearance in the 21st century will also be on display. Not only for children, the organizers have prepared puzzles of some significant buildings, comparisons of current and historical photographs, or sorting local buildings by architectural styles. An educational program has also been created for preschools, elementary and secondary schools, and organized groups. The exhibition will be open in the castle until September 29.
