The Vienna Center for Architecture AzW, in collaboration with the Architecture Foundation Australia, has prepared an exhibition about the world-renowned Australian architect Glenn Murcutt, which will run until February 13, 2012.
The exhibition will focus on completed private residential houses, showcasing the architect's thinking and working methods. The exhibit will include sketches, plans, photographs, and a video featuring the author. Visitors will also have the opportunity to learn about Murcutt's award-winning project "Arthur and Yvonne Boyd Art Centre" in Riversdale, New South Wales.
Glenn Murcutt was born in 1936 in London, spent his childhood in Papua New Guinea, and later lived and studied in Sydney. In 1969, he established his own architectural practice. Today, he lectures around the world. His architecture is rooted in the traditions of indigenous Australian cultures. He has influenced modernism with his strong connection to traditional building methods, the use of local materials, and consideration of the impact of climate and environment on structures. Through his buildings, which strive for harmony with nature and minimal environmental impact, he has been ahead of his time.
