Olomouc - Until mid-October, interested parties can visit the exhibition Famous Villas of the Olomouc Region at the Olomouc Museum of Modern Art. Originally, the exhibition was to be open only until mid-September, but due to high public interest, the museum decided to extend it by a month. Those interested in detailed information about the development of villa architecture since the mid-19th century can join a guided tour of the exhibition on Tuesday, said museum spokesperson Petr Bielesz to ČTK.
The exhibition presents, through drawings, plans, photographs, models, as well as period furniture, fifty architecturally significant family residences that were created from the mid-19th century to the present in the Olomouc region.
It follows the exhibition and publication series Famous Villas, which gradually focuses on objects throughout the republic. The exhibition is accompanied by a publication of the same name, which includes not only the life stories of architects and builders, the fates of the houses, but also a tourist guide. "There is great interest in both the exhibition and the publication. Since the beginning of the exhibition, that is, in less than three months, nearly 6,000 visitors have come to the museum. The book has been purchased by almost 600 people at the museum's ticket office. Therefore, we decided to extend the exhibition until October 14," Bielesz explained.
Participants of the guided tour will learn detailed information about approximately 150 years of family housing history in the region on Tuesday. The guide will be Pavel Zatloukal, the director of the Museum of Art in Olomouc, architectural historian, and author of the exhibition concept.
