The jury of the urban planning competition "Plzeň – Inner City", the results of which will serve as one of the foundations for developing a new territorial plan, selected two winners after its two-day meeting (March 20 and 21, 2012), namely competition proposals number 2 (MOBA studio s.r.o.) and number 7 (Roman Koucký architectural office s.r.o.).
“Twenty competition proposals were submitted. One proposal was not admitted for proper evaluation due to a violation of mandatory conditions and was assessed outside the competition,” explains the jury chairman doc. Ing. arch. Jan Jehlík. “The overall level of submitted proposals was very high. The jury appreciates the efforts of the participants and considers the competition a valuable source of ideas and information about the city and its possible development,” adds Jehlík.
“Through the conceptual competition we announced at the end of last year, we aimed to gain new perspectives on the urban planning concept of the city. We will now initiate discussions with the authors of the awarded proposals regarding cooperation. The results of the competition and the recommendations of the expert jury will be discussed with other city entities. The decisive word will be with the city council in April,” explains the director of the Department of Concept and Development of the City of Plzeň, Ing. Irena Vostracká. All competition proposals will be presented to the public at an exhibition in the Měšťanská beseda in June 2012.
Quotations from the jury's evaluation Proposal number 7 and proposal number 2 express, in the jury's opinion, the strongest opinions on the central part of the city, on the city as a whole, and in the broader regional context in a visually distinctive form and can thus represent teams and personalities who can support the compilers and procurers of the territorial plan, as well as the city in the complex negotiations that the city is expecting in connection with the preparation of the new plan.

Territorial Plan The territorial plan of the city of Plzeň was developed in 1995 and was designed for a proposal period of approximately 15 years. Since its approval, it has been regularly updated every two years through amendments. The city of Plzeň is currently working on a new territorial plan. The main reasons for its preparation are requirements arising from the Building Act and the need to respond to changes in socio-economic conditions.
