Jury assessment:

1st prize: MgA. Lenka Křemenová, MgA. David Maštálka, Ing. Miloslav Cymbál - A1Architects
A significant strength of the proposal is that it builds on the qualities and volumes of the existing state. It sharpens and defines it. The tripling (“cloning”) of the post office building may seem formal at first glance, but in the presented concept, it proves to be substantial. The form of the “roofed square” appears functional and could therefore replace (somewhat missing for the jury) the open space of the square. The ratio between paved and unpaved areas is harmonious. The ground floor is balanced, although its layout adjustments in the central part will be necessary. The proposal is closest to finding a suitable concept between a rural and urban central space.

2nd prize: Martin Heckel, Ing. arch. BcA. Eva Vopátková, co-author: Ing. arch. Jiří Soukup
This proposal liberates the central part of the square in the most sensitive way, in the spirit of the original concept as documented by the imperial imprint from the first half of the 19th century. The opening of the center of the square is not done by the standard division of space into three parts, but through a much more complex process, which, through careful selection of vegetation, quotations of historical traces and a new building, contemporaneously rhythms the space of the square. The new building uniquely reflects the context and creates a completely new situation. The opening of the space insufficiently reflects the existing traffic load of the square.

3rd prize: Ing. arch. Jiří Žid, Ing. arch. Ing. Jiří Janďourek, Bc. Jana Hlavová, Ing. arch. Jana Medlíková
The proposal reveals and demonstrates refined and exceptional proportions of the space. The geometric analysis justifies the concept of the place. The classicist axis supported by alleys creates quality space. The question remains about the separation of the inner part of the square from its whole. The formalization of all three spaces has functional content and makes sense. The new object is conceived among other things as a platform enabling the experience of the overall concept. The jury positively evaluates the extension of the department store. The distinctness of the formal concept was discussed.

Award: MgA. Pavel Griz, MgA. Tereza Kučerová, MgA. Patrik Zamazal - Molo architekti, s.r.o.
The proposal maintains the existing concept of a unified space, which it develops in a wide range of expressive means. Besides other things, the jury positively assessed the planning of crossways through the square. The ground floor in this proposal becomes a dynamic “carpet,” perhaps too decorative.

Award: Ing. arch. MgA. Martin Rusina, Ing. arch. Miroslav Holubec
An unconventional and very refreshing solution.
