Prague - Prague plans to announce a competition for the future form of the Ďolíček stadium before the summer, in the form of a so-called competition workshop. The selection of the proposal could take place in the autumn. This was stated today by the mayor's deputy Petr Hlaváček (for STAN). Unlike the original intention of the city leadership, which owns the Vršovice stadium, they have stepped back from the plan to build an extension with commercial spaces in the southern stand.

In the previous electoral period, the city hall commissioned an economic study for the renovation of the stadium. Based on this, they considered building an office extension in the southern part of the stadium, which would include several thousand square meters of office space in addition to the stand. Renting out these spaces was supposed to help pay for the stadium's renovation more quickly.

However, according to Hlaváček, this plan is no longer valid, complicated by the fact that the city discovered an unknown sewer underneath the stadium, which would significantly complicate and increase the cost of any potential extension. Given the low rent paid by the club Bohemians Prague 1905, such an investment would not be worthwhile at this moment.

According to Hlaváček, the city is not planning a standard architectural competition, but a competition workshop, during which teams will communicate with each other, with the jury, the football club, and the city hall during the proposal creation process. The aim is to propose an economically viable solution, which could, for example, involve containers.

"With slight optimism, I think we could announce it before the summer, and it could take place in the autumn," Hlaváček said, adding that it also involves exchanging land north of the stadium, which would allow for the repositioning of the playing field. The basic layout of the sports hall planned by Prague 10 opposite the stadium should also be part of the competition brief for the teams. The city's contributory organization, Prague Development Company, is responsible for preparing the competition, and is also preparing a residential building project in the vicinity of the stadium.

The city began negotiations with the private owner to purchase Ďolíček in 2011. The city district of Prague 10 initially wanted to buy the stadium, but in the previous electoral period, the parties eventually agreed that the city hall would acquire it.
