Plzeň - Plzeň will announce an architectural and urban planning competition for the most suitable solution for the future development of part of the city center. It wants to gain an idea of the future shaping of the area from Americká Street through Denisovo Embankment to Sirkova Street, that is, the location dominated by the Inwest Culture House. The proposal will serve the city council as a basis for issuing opinions for investors. Petr Rund, the mayor's deputy, said this to ČTK. "In this area, over the last few years, there have been various forms of shaping or renovations, extensions, but only solitary objects," he stated. Because the location is very valuable from an urban perspective and very fragmented in terms of ownership relations, the city council wants to gather architects' opinions on the overall appearance. "They should propose how they envision the block to be rebuilt, extended, how to resolve supply, parking, traffic connections, pedestrian passage, mass volumes of individual buildings, and more," he added. Any interventions could significantly influence the appearance of the center of Plzeň. The Inwest Culture House dominates the location, modifications of which are being considered, and some time ago, there was even talk of its demolition and the construction of a new building. Therefore, according to Rund, the city should have some idea and influence on the future delineation of the location. Based on the winning proposal, it will be possible to establish regulatory conditions for the entire area that will allow for gradual construction with clear solutions. The proposals will also include visualizations of specific spatial solutions. The organization of a public conceptual competition has already been approved by the councilors. Before the actual announcement, the city hall will contact private owners of land and buildings to refine their future intentions.
