Plzeň announces an architectural-urban planning competition for the area of Americká–Sirková

The city of Plzeň announces, through the Department of Concept and Development of the City of Plzeň, a public one-round architectural and urbanistic conceptual competition, which aims to provide insights on the development of the area Americká – Nádražní – U Jána intersection – Denisovo nábřeží. The competition was approved by the Plzeň city council on Thursday and is officially announced as of today. Authorized architects from not only the Czech Republic but also other European Union countries can submit their competition proposals in the Czech language during the last week of April. “Emphasis is placed on urban structure and the definition of public spaces, and the results of the competition will be reflected in the proposal for a new territorial plan for Plzeň,” explains Irena Vostracká, director of the Department of Concept and Development of the City of Plzeň.

The area in question is located in one of the most prominent parts of Plzeň between the historic center and the main train station. The competition conditions are available on the website of the Department of Concept and Development of the City of Plzeň.

Dates:
February 3, 2014 – announcement of the competition “Plzeň, Americká – Sirková”
March 7, 2014 – deadline for submitting written questions by competitors regarding the subject of the competition
March 12, 2014 – meeting to answer written questions from competitors
April 25 – 30, 2014 – deadline for submitting competition proposals
May 13 – 14, 2014 – evaluation meeting of the jury
May 15, 2014 – preliminary date for announcing results
