The hospital in Liberec has 13 proposals for a new pavilion, none optimal

Liberec - The Regional Hospital in Liberec already has an idea of what the new emergency medicine pavilion could look like for one billion crowns. The architectural competition received 13 proposals, and the jury selected three best ones and awarded three others. However, none of the proposals was optimal. CTK was told today by the hospital's general director Luděk Nečesaný.

However, according to him, they did not expect that from the competition. The goal was to gather as many suggestions as possible from quality architects that could be incorporated into the project. "We know which ideas we want to adopt from the other proposals, and we will try to convince the winning designers to incorporate them into theirs. We want it to meet our medical needs," said Nečesaný.

The winner of the competition was SIAL, the second was Atelier Penta, and the third was Domy. The hospital will distribute almost five million crowns in rewards among them and three other awarded projects, with two million going to the winning proposal. However, it is not yet known who will design the new hospital. The first three studios will proceed to negotiations without publication, with the hospital first approaching SIAL. "Who will design it could be resolved within two months," said project manager for hospital modernization Luděk Černý.

The contract will be awarded to the studio that is capable and willing to incorporate the hospital's conditions into their proposal. In this phase of the project, healthcare professionals will re-enter the discussion. "We need to definitively specify what will go where. So far, these were just proposals, somewhat rough. Now we will be much more detailed. Nurses will also be included in the discussion," said the hospital's medical director Richard Lukáš.

Construction of the pavilion should begin at the end of next year in the lower part of the campus. A unified reception, which the hospital currently does not have, should be created there. The six-story pavilion with a heliport is to include a central reception, operating rooms, ARO, JIP, neurology, stroke unit, trauma center, and general surgery. A parking garage is also to be built in the lower part of the campus, one of the options is that the parking lot would be underground.
