The Korean Space Prize has been announced since 1983 as a competition with interesting themes. The original competition for Korean students was expanded into an international competition in 2001. Each year, the competition has interesting themes and recently has managed to attract interesting jurors (Kazuyo Sejima, MVRDV).

This year's 25th edition theme is Public Space, Public Force, Public Imagination - Program Shopping. One of this year's jurors, Park Youn-shim, wrote a pertinent introduction to this year's theme, addressing the influence of the internet on culture and the creation of public space, and the phenomenon of online shopping. Contestants should contemplate the design of commercial buildings that embody these influences on the creation of public space and the new shopping style.
Students (or teams of up to 3 students) can register for the competition until August 31, 2007. A participation fee of 50 USD is required. The competition deadline is September 12, 2007. One Grand Prize will be awarded in the competition (5,000,000 KRW (approximately 110,000 CZK) and a job offer at the Korean SPACE GROUP), a Best Prize (2,000,000 KRW), and three other prizes of 1,000,000 KRW each.

At the same time, the 7th edition of the competition for Interior Design students is ongoing, with the theme 3.6.9 - contestants are tasked with experimenting with a space that is based on the modules of 3 m, 6 m, and 9 m. The deadlines and prizes are similar to those of the architectural competition.
