Jihlava – Jihlava selected the architectural proposal from the company Rusina Frei in a competition for the renewal of the outdated campsite base Hájenka Černé lesy in Brtnice. Only four proposals entered the competition. Repairs on the former lodge will begin no earlier than next year, with the city estimating the total costs to be 40 million korunas excluding tax. The area is no longer operational and will remain closed until the reconstruction is completed, said Radovan Daněk, spokesperson for the Jihlava city hall, to ČTK.
The proposals will be displayed from Friday on the ground floor of the city hall and in February at the Jihlava House of Children and Youth. "I rate the competition positively, even though I expected slightly greater creativity," stated Jihlava councilor David Beke (ODS). The city plans to carry out the reconstruction of the base between 2023 and 2025.
The campsite base belongs to the city of Jihlava. Until last year, it served almost year-round for children from the Jihlava House of Children and Youth but was closed due to poor technical condition. The city then selected a conceptual proposal for its renewal in an architectural competition. The prize for the winning proposal was 110,000 korunas, 90,000 korunas for second place, and 50,000 korunas for each of the remaining two proposals.
The former lodge dates back to the 19th century, but the exact age could not be ascertained, according to last year's statement by the director of the House of Children and Youth, Vilibald Prokop. The house provided support for camps, but according to Prokop, better accommodation conditions were in the cabins, of which there are 15. Children also slept in tents, and including leaders, up to a hundred people could be there at once.
The area will newly include a sports section with a multipurpose playground and a natural swimming pool. A spacious dining hall is planned in the house, which will also serve as a common room, along with the renovated barn, stated Kateřina Bezděkovská from the city architect's office. A covered outdoor dining hall, which can be transformed into a winter garden, will be designated for summer camps. Accommodation in the house will be in the attic. The authors of the proposal also included the possibility for campers to observe the stars there.
