The end of the semester is approaching, which has finally been in-person after a long time. And this at the Faculty of Art and Architecture at the Technical University of Liberec means only one thing – the holding of the student competition Ještěd in a Cage! The competition and accompanying program will finally take place live in Liberec after three online editions, with a jury composed of artist Epos 257, architect Petr Hájek, urbanist Rozálie Kašparová, art theorist Michal Koleček, and architecture theorist Richard Biegel. We will kick off Ještěd in a Cage on Wednesday, February 9, 2021, at 8:00 PM at Vokno with a concert by the Brno band MMNK. The following day, the program will continue with the event MAKE YOUR SLED, where everyone will create their own means of sliding down from Ještěd. On Friday, the climax of the competition will take place – the festive announcement of the winning and nominated projects in the Studio of Karel Hubáček, although unawarded works will also be on display. After the announcements, Prague performer HRTL, focused on electronic music, will play. The afterparty will take place at the club HAD at the dormitories. The entire edition unexpectedly carries the theme of playfulness, which has awakened in us after a year spent at home. The visual identity this time was created by Karolína Kárníková, a former FUA student and also the organizer of Ještěd in a Cage. The graphic design intertwines the theme of connection – the connection of both fields within the faculty, which is currently a pertinent topic at FUA.
