At the Faculty of Arts and Architecture of the Technical University of Liberec, the 22nd announcement of the student competition Ještěd in a Cage took place. The festive announcement occurred on June 6, 2019, on the school's premises, specifically in the studio where the works were created.
This year, the best projects were selected by a four-member independent jury from the fields of architecture and art, consisting of Kateřina Vídenová, Kurt Gebauer, Ondřej Chybík, and Štěpán Bärtl. This year, two winning projects were awarded in the categories of architecture and design. The winner in architecture was student Svetlana Devyatkina with the project Return to Ploučnice in the studio of Hendrych, Janďourek, and Suchánek, which was also her bachelor's thesis. In the design category, the studio of Richard Loskot was awarded, which the jury also chose as the overall winner of this year’s summer edition with the site-specific exhibition Absence.
Among the nominated projects were the studio Balda and Žid, as well as students Jaroslav Kejř and Michaela Marková with their student housing project in Janov (Atelier Buček - Horatsche), Jan Lébl and Michaela Doležalová, who also addressed the same assignment - two embassies of the Czech Republic in Addis Ababa (Atelier Petr Stolín and Hendrych, Janďourek, and Suchánek).
