In general assessment of all outputs, we agree on the good quality of school projects from the Faculty of Art and Architecture in Liberec. Certain unmet expectations for us are represented by the projects of the environmental design studio, where we would expect a greater degree of conceptual thinking and depth of project development.
From the studios, we decided to highlight the formulation of assignments from two entirely different approaches to teaching. One is the "Architectural Travelogue" from the Jirkalová/Chuchlík studio, where we were impressed by the extent of work with various media and the willingness to engage in a different format of teaching than usual; this studio represents an example of a comprehensive approach to thinking about architecture.
Furthermore, we appreciate the provocative assignment "James Bond House" from the architects Stolín/Mičeková, which humorously encourages an "extreme" approach to designing and is not burdened by established stereotypes.
Among individual works, we commend the project "Two-Year Project" by student Martin Holada and his ability to formally and ideologically respond to the original quality development of the Solidarita housing estate, using contemporary expressive means.
As a quality theoretical concept that seeks and strives to comprehensively address the essence of the spatial and social issue of the place, we appreciate the project "Oasis Rio de Janeiro" by student Alice Mitysková. The final output represents a clear artistic opinion for us.
We also value the complexity of the approach in the project "Walls of Nymburk" by Kristián Holan, in the choice of urban and architectural means to improve the public space of the given locality. Given the scope of processing this difficult task, we decided to reward this project with a tangible gift.
The systematic approach and sensitive treatment of the current urban theme is represented by Jakub Kopecký's project "Artery Náchod." The clear conceptual result convinced us of its qualities.
