Hostivice - Hostivice near Prague today announced a public architectural competition for a new look for the town center, which has more than 8,000 residents. The city hall leadership wants to modernize, revitalize, and also improve the functions of the center. The competition is announced by the town hall in collaboration with the architectural office Czech Develop Services. This was reported by the director of the office, Josef Novák.

The city is preparing a new zoning plan, so it is also looking for proposals on how to modify the center, including the use of the local buildings and spaces. "The city is truly lacking a modern and fully functional center," said Novák. The population of Hostivice has almost doubled since the year 2000 due to significant construction, mainly in areas outside the town center.

The competition is open, so architecture students or students from engineering faculties can also participate. The Czech Chamber of Architects oversees the fairness of the competition, the winner will receive 150,000 crowns, second place will be awarded 100,000 crowns, and third place will receive half that amount. "There is also a special prize of 20,000 crowns for remarkable partial ideas or solutions," added Novák.

Architects can submit their competition proposals until December 18 of this year, and the jury will evaluate the proposals and announce the winners by the end of the year. The proposals will be displayed to the public in January at the Hostivice city hall.
