Litomyšl (Svitavy Region) - Litomyšl wants to build a more comfortable home for seniors than the two existing facilities. The town hall announced an architectural competition for a new building that should be located near the hospital. Currently, most residents live in multi-bed rooms, sometimes up to five in one room, Mayor Michal Kortyš (ODS) told reporters today.
"So far, 120 architectural teams have requested the competition materials," the mayor stated.
The new building will have at least 60 single rooms, and it will include a kitchenette and basic furniture. The total capacity of the seniors' home will be 80 places. After the relocation, the town should also save on operational costs, as the building will be more energy-efficient and will require less staff. The costs for construction will be determined by the building project; the town hall aims to obtain a grant for the construction.
In Litomyšl, there are two facilities for seniors, Domov Pod Školou and Domov Na Skalce, designated for people suffering from senility, Alzheimer's disease, and other types of dementia. They can accommodate approximately 75 individuals.
