Prague – The design of the planned city apartment buildings with rental small-sized apartments and a two-class kindergarten in Ruzyně in Prague 6 should stem from the proposal of architects Martin Němec and Petr Dvořák from the A.D.N.S. architects studio. They won the architectural competition announced by Prague 6 in June. The sixth district should pay a maximum of 120 million crowns for the project of the houses and kindergarten and their construction. Jiří Hannich, the spokesman for Prague 6, informed ČTK today.
"The design sensitively relates to the existing buildings and maintains sufficient distance from them. The apartment buildings with rental apartments have an optimal composition and size, and the design also expands the public space of Rakovnická Street with the forecourt of the proposed objects," stated Jakub Stárek (ODS), the Deputy Mayor of Prague 6 for urban development, regarding the winning design.
The winner of the competition was chosen by a jury that included architects Jan Mužík, Luboš Pata, Petr Šikola, and Petr Vávra, among others. According to Hannich, the jurors evaluated eight submitted competition projects. The design from A.D.N.S. architects won first place, second place went to the proposal by Znamení čtyř - architects, and the third place was awarded to the Architectural Studio ARKÁDA. The winner of the competition was also approved by the council of the district of Prague 6 in November, as indicated by the council's resolution.
In the case of the winning design, the jury praised the individual solutions of the individual apartment buildings, according to Hannich. The jurors also positively evaluated the proposed outdoor private spaces for most apartments. The competition also included the design of a new kindergarten in Ruzyně, which will increase the capacity for children in kindergartens established by Prague 6 by fifty places. Architects Němec and Dvořák proposed the kindergarten as a single-story building with a green roof.
Prague 6 is now expanding the capacities of kindergartens and elementary schools that it establishes. Thanks to attic constructions, the Emy Destinnové Elementary School, the elementary school on náměstí Svobody, and the J. A. Komenského Elementary School in U Dělnického cvičiště Street will be expanded. A completely new school building is planned to be constructed at Na Kocínce in Prague 6. According to earlier information, construction there is expected to start in 2023. Currently, the Tychonova Kindergarten is being renovated in a four-story historical villa in Hradčany.
There are currently 33 kindergartens in Prague 6. The district of Prague 6 also establishes 15 elementary schools, which, according to the district councilor Marie Kubíková (ODS), have about 9,000 students enrolled. The municipalities are responsible for kindergartens and elementary schools, while secondary, higher vocational, special, language, and basic art schools are managed by the city hall.
