Karl Kohn was a Jewish architect from Prague who completed several buildings with his brother Otto Kohn. Both brothers studied architecture at the German Technical University in Prague, and Karl Kohn also studied under Josef Gočár at the Academy of Fine Arts. Initially, they designed buildings influenced by expressionism and later by functionalism. In 1938, most of the family fled from the Nazis to France and then traveled to Quito, Ecuador, where both brothers continued to design and teach architecture.
