Biography:
1920 - born on January 23 in Offenbach am Main as the youngest of three sons of Dominikus Böhm and Marie (née Scheiber)
1921 - graduated from Aposteln-Gymnasium in Cologne
1939-42 - completed military service during which he injured his leg on the Russian front, was discharged from military duty and was able to begin studying architecture at the Technical University in Munich under the guidance of Adolf Abel, Hans Döllgast and others
 - studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts under Josef Henselmann

1947 - graduated
1947-50 - worked in the father's studio

1948 - married architect Elisabeth Haggenmüller (four sons: Stephan, Markus, Peter, Paul)

1950 - worked under Rudolf Schwarz on the urban plan for the reconstruction of Cologne

1950-51 - collaborating with Paul Pott

1951 - six-month stay in the USA, worked with Cajetan Baumann in New York

1952-55 - worked in the father's studio
