Entrance pavilion to the athletics stadium

Between the Catalan town of Olot and the volcanic natural park La Garrotxa lies the recreational and sports complex Tussols-Basil. The playground project with facilities was initiated in 1999, but visitors only saw its completion eleven years later, when an entrance pavilion with a triangular floor plan, an observation platform (beneath which are changing rooms), and a gentle two-armed ramp leading to the athletic oval and soccer field were built. The common materials are corten steel sheets and a reinforced surface made of corroded reinforcing profiles. The rusty structure unexpectedly resonates with the surrounding lush vegetation emerging from the fertile volcanic landscape.
