On the drawings of rural houses of certain noble Venetians
In the village of Fanzolo in the Treviso area, three miles from Castel Franco, is the building of the noble gentleman Leonardo Ema mentioned below. The cellars, barns, stables, and other rural rooms are on both sides of the manor house, and at their ends are two dovecotes, which bring benefit to the lord and adorn the place. One can walk everywhere under the roof, which is one of the main features desired for a country house, as previously noted. Behind this building is a square garden, 80 Treviso acres in size. A stream flows through its center, making the land beautiful and pleasant. It was adorned with paintings by Mr. Battista Veneziana.
