This is a pedestrian connection via stairs in the park between U Ježíška and Mikulášské třídy streets in Plzeň. The aim of the design was for the addressed space to have a distinct impression. We preserved the remnant of the lower gate – a concrete portal. The upper entrance to the space is also bordered by a portal, which is metallic and shape-wise similar to the concrete one. We prevented the felling of trees. This creates a feeling of a garden in the city. The unique character is enhanced by elements that we could design only for this space, such as lighting fixtures, railings, and custom riding stairs. It is worth mentioning the Czech standard, where architects are invited to design public spaces only as subcontractors, if at all. This time, we were fortunate to have a perceptive designer.
