The house in Nučice is a play with three "blocks" of different shapes and materials.
The white block is solid, open to the garden, and set into the slope. The second block, lighter and made of wood, separates the garden from the street. The third block, in the shape of a low house with a gabled roof, is positioned on the two lower blocks and faces the sun. In the space defined by all three blocks, the entrance to the house naturally arises.
The play of different principles and materials associated with each block is also transferred into the interior.
In the white space, all the residents of the house gather in the living room, around the dining table, and in the kitchen. Two height levels in the interior space extended into the garden follow the terrain's slope. As the floor level descends, the space increases until it opens completely to the south through a fully glazed wall. From the outside, the character of this part of the house is defined by the white plaster and large wooden window frames. In the interior, wooden and white surfaces are used, along with hidden lighting.
The wooden technical and operational section is closed within itself, appearing from the outside only as a wooden "box" that is significantly interrupted by the garage door. The materials and elements used in the interior correspond to its function. The floor is epoxy, gray in color, the doors are metal, and the lights have a more industrial look.
The upper floor is a compact volume clad in roofing tiles. The shape of the house is impressed in the interior by opening up into the roof space. Rooms with square windows open to the south, and the square format is used universally for the window openings on the upper floor. In contrast to the white part of the house, where wooden surfaces prevail in the interior, colors are used on the upper floor in the form of a yellow floor, gray window frames, and door casings. The lights are flush-mounted and pendant.
By assembling the individual "blocks," a house rich in atmospheres, spaces, and views has been created, a house where breakfast occurs with the eastern sun, dinner with the western sun, where one can enjoy afternoon coffee on the terrace even in the rain, and where the rooms are bathed in sunlight all day long.
