Restaurant ZOO Prague

The new restaurant for visitors of the zoo is located between the new elephant and hippo enclosures, in front of the entrance to the bridge to the African House. It is situated in the local center of the northern part of the Prague Zoo complex. It offers visitors a quiet seating area with a view of the enclosures. The building appears to be wrapped in greenery, having only one important facade – the one facing the zoo. It is designed as a terrain structure, with its front stone wall broken by a large glass opening. A far-reaching awning that covers it provides shade. In winter, the restaurant offers up to 60 interior seats.

The building has a reinforced concrete structure; the facade is clad in split sandstone. While vegetation covers both sides of the building and the roof, the building opens to the south with a fully glazed facade towards the garden area. This glazed facade can be almost entirely retracted, thus connecting the interior with the exterior. Deliveries occur from the back, where the simple facade connects to other structures that form the boundary of the zoo complex.
