The reconstruction of the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Mařatice, a late Renaissance monument with Baroque forms, was focused on the overall restoration of the architectural work, including the adjustment and addition of the interior. At the beginning of the work, in 2007, the building was in very poor structural and technical condition, and the state of the church's interior was similarly inadequate. Given the financial possibilities of the investor and the time-consuming technological processes, the work on the church's restoration took a long five years and was divided into three phases. As part of the restoration, all construction modifications were carried out, from securing the building structurally and measures against moisture to the complete replacement of installations, repairs of plaster, floors, and roofing, as well as the installation of both restored and new furniture elements, and the placement of artworks. The proverbial cherry on top was the installation of the original Baroque altar, whose sculptural decoration was discovered in the attic of the local rectory during the construction works and subsequently reconstructed based on a single black-and-white photograph from 1939.
