Complete reconstruction of a 1+1 apartment with an area of 31 m²

Reconstruction of the apartment on the battlefield, Prague 4
It was a devastated apartment in a brick building. The original layout was inadequate. The small kitchen was located in the hallway behind the entrance door. And in the smaller room next door, there was a separate bathroom, where a bathtub, sink, and a stove were placed, which couldn't fit in the hallway.

Thus, the basis was to create a new layout solution. The final layout was chosen from several options as the most suitable.

The original room solely for the toilet was enlarged at the expense of the living room, resulting in a fully functional bathroom with a shower enclosure.

In the original bathroom space, a new kitchen was created. The owner wished to equip the kitchen with a two-burner stove, and there is also a combined oven and refrigerator. The space was utilized so that there was a sufficient amount of storage.

In the hallway, a built-in wardrobe was created, which conceals the boiler, water heater, and washing machine. Additionally, there is space for shoes and coats.

In the living room, emphasis was placed on maximizing storage space. Built-in wardrobes were created along both longer walls of the room.

One built-in wardrobe leads to a desk with storage spaces beside it, which can be easily closed off. There is also a niche for the television.

The second built-in wardrobe is also cut out in the middle for the placement of a bed. The bed is pull-out; during the day, the bed is retracted, creating a sofa. The upholsterer made back cushions that can be removed when the bed is extended. Behind the sofa, there is storage space for blankets. In the other storage spaces, there are clothing rods and shelves.

All furniture was made in white so as not to diminish the already small space. Only smaller colored elements were used for enhancement.

The color element is also repeated in the bathroom in the form of a cabinet under the sink. Due to the proximity of the core, the shower could be created only by sloping to the drainage channel, and we did not need to use a shower tray.

The complete replacement of the electrical wiring, water, and sewage connection pipes was carried out structurally. Since the house is planning to replace the water and sewage stacks, it was necessary to replace them in this apartment in advance so that there would be no need to intervene in the apartment later. This complicated the work a bit, as it was necessary to coordinate with the neighbors above and below the apartment, into whose bathrooms we intervened, and then restore those bathrooms to their original condition.
