The project addresses the design transformation of a ready-made shirt store into a showroom for a custom tailoring business with a much broader range of products. It is a shop located in the historic center of Prague. The newly designed store is intended to become the new flagship of JANEK's stores.
Our aim was to elegantly and effectively showcase the entire range of the company. This includes men's formal fashion: shirts, suits, sweaters, coats, as well as various accessories and custom shoes. We emphasized the presentation of individual pieces of the collection as solitary objects that would have space to stand out.
The store itself consists of two parts. Facing the street, there is a showroom behind the windows accessible to all visitors. In the back, a room has been designed to serve as a tailor's salon for placing orders with clients.
The main artistic motif of the store is a wall made of vertically arranged cylinders of various diameters, onto which fabrics used for making shirts are wound. We simply used a characteristic element known from all tailoring workshops. The wall with the logo forms the imaginary back and unifies the entire showroom space. An inspiring element of the original interior were the flat vaults, which give the space a distinctive character and differentiate it from stores in shopping centers, for example. To present the products, we designed the most subtle system of black shelves, which are anchored to slender supports that wind nearly the entire height of the room. We rejuvenated this austere composition of black and white with two solitary tables with glass display cases, made from oak veneer in a natural shade. The walls of the store are covered with a light gray-beige wallpaper with a subtle pattern reminiscent of fabric. The back room - the room for placing suits is designed more in simple shades of gray, so as not to disrupt the color palette when selecting various fabrics and coordinating individual "clothing components."
