New construction of studio RH-ARCH

New construction of studio RH-ARCH
Address: Nekázanka 9, Nové Město, Prague, Czech Republic
Project:2006 - 2010
Completion:2009 - 2010
Area:114 m2

In the spring of 2010, the RH-ARCH studio, as its own investment project, completed an extension on a historic Neo-Renaissance building in Prague 1. The building is located on Nekázanka Street, which connects Na Příkopech Street and Jindřišská Street, just a few hundred meters from Wenceslas Square.
One of the new units consists of the architectural studio's own office.

The studio is situated under the original mansard roof, thus on the former attic. The original truss is partly visually integrated into the interior. It helps in dividing the “openspace” office into three parts – a central communication space with linear workstations adjacent to it on both sides, arranged in two levels on top of each other, namely on the studio's entrance level and on the inserted gallery. Revealing the truss also meant a more challenging search and selection of additional materials so that the final impression did not appear too rustic.
A steel staircase with glass steps and a footbridge connects the space at the entrance level with the gallery suspended from the original truss structure. Continuous work surfaces of the desks connect to a system of cabinets with sliding doors.
The kitchenette and social facilities are concealed in a “box” clad with laminated boards covered with glossy formica. Inside in ruby red, outside very light yellow. The floor made of natural linoleum runs through the corridor into the meeting room, thus easily connecting the spaces. In the background, vinyl flooring in a diamond plate pattern is used.
