In 2018, nearly thirty years after the fall of the Communist regime, the homestead in Lošany, which used to belong to her father Josef Mašín, was finally returned to Mrs Zdeňka Mašínová. In that same year a registered association was set up with the aim of creating a public memorial at the site in tribute to the three eras of Czechoslovak resistance and to preserve the memory and legacy of Major General Josef Mašín and his family who underwent many personal sacrifices during the 20th century in their fight for their country, freedom and democracy. The association has announced a public collection, which has already attracted around 1,000 donors. The architectural design of the memorial was created as part of a semester-long student thesis in the studio of Klára and Tomáš Hradečný at the Faculty of Architecture of the Czech Technical University. In cooperation with Zdeňka Mašínová and the members of the association, the final form of the memorial was subsequently selected and developed into a building project in the IXA studio. The concept and content of the historical exhibition in the former farm building was designed by historian Petr Blažek in cooperation with other members of the association. Following an agreement with the Central Bohemian Region, the monument will be operated by the Regional Museum in Kolín after its opening on 26 August 2022. On this website, among other things, information about the history of the Lošany farm and the family of Josef Mašín is available. The public collection is still ongoing in order to cover all the liabilities incurred in the preparation of the memorial. Thank you to everyone who supported the project.
