Johnson's project from the late 1960s fully applies one of the classic principles of architecture, namely the motif of superheavy mass resting on a subtle base. Unfortunately, we could not experience the interior space, as it was closed; however, the impression from the sculpture park surrounding the house largely made up for it. The sculptures of leading world sculptors are pleasantly installed, particularly Richard Serra's "Iron," which harmoniously complements the corroded metal cladding of the gallery.
