The project of the bookstore in the extension of the Černý Most Center was created as a pilot version of a new concept for the interiors of the Kanzelsberger company. This is based on the fundamental elements that we have already used, for example, in the branch in České Budějovice. It focuses primarily on a dimly lit interior with sharply illuminated presentation and graphic areas in contrasting bright colors.
However, our goal at Černý Most was to create a concept much closer to the customers. The area of nearly 1000 m² was ideal for this purpose and allowed us to create both a visually clear sales area concept and a relaxation zone with a wooden stage, sofas, and café tables. Here, visitors can read excerpts from books undisturbed or simply rest in a calm environment.
The color scheme of the interior stems from the corporate graphic design of the Kanzelsberger company, which is based on a bright red color complemented by white. Here, we added wooden surfaces and colorful carpets that collaborate with the orientation system and create coherent zones, defining thematic units according to book categories.
The requirement for a design without a drywall ceiling and with dimmed HVAC and fire safety installations was resolved by installing contrasting banner panels, forming concentric squares inspired by the company logo. LED spotlights take care of the lighting for the sales areas, while the relaxation areas are illuminated by hanging fixtures with pleasant warm light.
It was important for us to create a sense of calm and comfort that surely belongs with books. The next task will be to apply this design to smaller branches of the Kanzelsberger company in the regions.
