Café "Sorry, We Bake Differently"

The main task in preparing the project was to create a space for the production of an inspirational and slightly extravagant pastry chef. The intention was to sell these pearls directly to customers from the production and also supply a network of affiliated restaurants with sweet pastries. The fact that the spirit of the business wants to do many things differently is evidenced by the unconventional name of the establishment. The café was created somewhat additionally. If a customer comes for pastries, why wouldn’t they sit down for a moment and taste something on-site? In the end, we managed to allocate more space for the café than we originally expected, and I believe that the owners do not regret it today.

The space is not completely simple for the café and shop. The height differences in the space make it more challenging, with the sales counter located in the back, elevated section of the café, which connects to the production areas.
We tried to give it some logic. In the entry area at street level, we created a meeting space with raised seating and standing areas, where guests can stop for a quick coffee or a glass, while the staff wraps up those wonderful cakes from the pastry chef. That’s why there is so much space for strollers or bicycles here. In the back, there is a counter for picking up ordered items and a few comfortable spots for friends and regular customers. Variable small tables allow for changing the layout for various events, such as children's birthday parties or creative pastry lessons that the owners want to organize.

The older building in which the café is located shows signs of certain dilapidation, but at the same time, the original, rich decoration of the spaces has been preserved. We kept as much as we could. The supplemented interior does not attempt to follow the original ornaments, but rather is simple and practical. We did not try to cover up the existing decadence of the space but rather to add to it slightly, albeit provocatively.
