Based on the investor's request, particularly to address the emergency condition of the roof and to increase the leasable area of the administrative building of HYDROSYSTEM project a.s., an architectural design for the building extension was developed.
According to the zoning plan of the city of Olomouc, the existing building is located within a functional area for production and manufacturing services. The structure stands in a complex of existing administrative buildings, in close proximity to the city heating plant. It is a four-story building with a flat roof constructed with a prefabricated reinforced concrete frame structure and heavy PREFA ceilings. The proposed fifth above-ground floor is designed to ripple the entire existing uniform facade into modern shapes, offering a metaphor related to the company's name - HydroSystem - the building is intended to be a systematic solution, stretching across the upper part of the building like a water flow. The roof will be a shed, with a rapid bend on the southern side that essentially creates a facade on the southern side of the roof.
The steel load-bearing structure of the extension is designed in the same modular system as the frame reinforced concrete structure of the existing building. The curved roof is supported by a bent profile captured in the existing cantilevered beams. The extension is braced with stiffening frames at both ends of the building.
In the light blue facade under the dark blue wave, plastic windows are installed in standard white color, including a white sill. In contrast, above the dark blue wave, the windows are installed in silver color. Their sills and reveal are dark blue cladding of PUR panels.
The facades are executed from a sandwich facade system. The architectural intention is to extend the plaster to some areas of the new facade in the same pattern and color as on the existing building.
The floor covering consists of carpet in office areas and sintered tiles in the hallways and restrooms, which seamlessly continue into each other in these areas.
