The First Republic Villa Belvedere from the 1930s – the former Hotel Belvedere-Breuer is situated in a beautiful elevated location with views of Špindlerův Mlýn.
Subsequent reconstructions added an apse to the panoramic living room, and in the 1990s, the interior underwent an unfortunate renovation, which affected the materials used inside.
At the request of a client with refined taste and a sense for detail, we initiated a reconstruction for his five-member family, who are sports and culture-oriented. We faced the challenge of creating a quality modern space that respects the "genius loci" of Špindlerův Mlýn and the First Republic villa while considering modern concepts and usage.
Given the sloping terrain, on one side, the apartment from the elevated floor overlooks the valley of Špindlerův Mlýn, while on the other side, it connects directly to the ground through a spacious terrace. It is now located in a developed area; nonetheless, it offers beautiful views of the surrounding slopes from the living space.
The pure materials of metal, wood, stone, and leather provide a great foundation for elegant yet comfortable furniture pieces, lighting from a Czech manufacturer, artworks, and quality audio equipment belonging to the owner. Light naturally flows through the entire space, but the day and night areas can be simply and effectively separated while also offering plenty of cleverly utilized storage space.
The client's sensitive approach to the selection of all the little details fills us with the conviction that the reconstruction has been very successful and that the client is an integral part of quality creation.
