We approach each project as a new challenge, even though we realize that it may sound like a cliché. With maximum commitment, we always dive into designing and try to utilize the specifics of the given location or assignment to the benefit of the overall proposal. In this project, we were intrigued by the investor's approach, who had come up with an original name. The combination of the word Barrandov and "Randez-vous" – romantic meetings – was a play on words that connects the location with a story, and it captivated us. This creative approach to the name resonates very much with us, and we found common ground with the investor. We hope that this is apparent in our architecture.
A conceptual ribbon winds through the center of the land, which must be utilized for greenery according to the zoning plan. This circumstance significantly influenced our thinking and the shaping of the building masses. Thus, we did not only address common questions such as sunlight, lighting, noise, or views, but we also had to deal with this specific requirement. Instead of bypassing the green belt, we decided to integrate it into the project as much as possible, thereby allowing us to use it as an advantage for future residents.
We strive for each project to have its story, idea, and uniqueness, but we also place great emphasis on functionality and the feelings of future residents, which will influence their daily lives. We care greatly about both the environment in which people will live and the interiors themselves. We have created a cohesive concept that connects outdoor spaces with the architecture of the buildings as well as the interiors of the common spaces and individual apartments. We discussed the outdoor spaces extensively not only with the investor but also with the
Flera studio, which further advanced our concept of the internal shared garden, meticulously developing it and breathing unique natural character into it.
The design we created aims to bring to life the idea of an open inner park filled with greenery, surrounded by more compact residential structures. We did not want to create long, monotonous lines where residents would struggle to orient themselves. Therefore, we undulated the building in both the floor plan and elevation, allowing the experience to change and the architecture to be memorable. This approach enabled us to create various spaces, nooks, and atmospheres, which aligns with the overall concept. The connection to outdoor greenery, whether on the ground or on roof terraces, is truly unique for the residents.
Regarding the layouts, beneath the undulating floor plan lies a series of repetitively shaped rectangular modules. Their dimensions are derived from the optimal arrangement of parking spaces in the underground. Between the regular residential blocks, we placed segments with staircases, which dynamize the entire project. This movement in the layouts gives the building a lively and dynamic character, which is also part of the overall experience of the space.
