Firefighters' Association of the Municipality of Bílovice nad SvitavouThe new fire station stands opposite the Municipal Inn. The firefighters demolished the old building that used to be there during the “Action Z” initiative, securing both manpower and equipment, thus saving considerable costs on demolition.
The previous fire station was located not far from the site in question, but it did not have sufficiently comfortable conditions for operation in terms of space, facilities, and possible equipment. Therefore, the municipality came up with the idea to relocate the fire station, which allowed for everything necessary to be supplemented. The intention behind the construction of the new fire station was also the practical and natural use of an unmaintained plot and simultaneously beautifying this local part of the village center. It is a two-story, non-basement building, consisting of two parts: a large garage and facilities. This operational division is also evident on the building's facade. A typical fire tower is also included. This cohesive architecture emphasizes the importance of this object. Traditional rural architecture of the village square gradually transitions into the bold modern architecture of the fire station. With this new building, the fire department has acquired a fully functional and architecturally modern fire station.
Architectural SolutionThe entire building of the fire station, with its formal language and scale, connects to the surrounding built environment and modernly complements the context of the village center with its overall architectural design. It is a two-story, non-basement building. For the needs of the fire station's garage, a raised space with a sloped roof divided into three ridges has been designed. The facilities are solved with a slanted shed roof.
There are no buildings nearby, except for the railway corridor, that would negatively disturb or influence the building. The design stems from a typical village character but with a modern touch that adds significance and distinctiveness to the structure.
The material solution of the new facilities is traditional, the same as in the case of the municipal office with a post office. The walls are therefore coated with white lime plaster, and the openings consist of aluminum and plastic in an anthracite color of the frames. The roofing is made of systemically corroded metal sheets. The paved areas in front of the fire station are made of concrete paving stones.
Structural and Layout SolutionThis is a traditional brick building on a concrete foundation with a wooden truss. Access to the fire station is through the center of the building, directly into the stairwell hall. On the left side is the officer's office, featuring a historic fire pump, which is visible not only from the interior but also from the exterior. Adjacent to the officer's office are changing rooms for youth, a shared hygiene facility, and a changing room for the adult fire department. From the hall, there is also access to a cleaning room with a laundry and a technical room. Opposite the changing room door across the hallway is access to the garage for quick and smooth operations in the event of a fire. The large garage includes three storage areas for fuels, hose storage, additional equipment, and for electrical engineering. There is also access to the fire tower with a rough shower, where hoses are dried. In the back, above the storage areas, there is a storage gallery accessible from the second floor through an expanded gallery. Access to the second floor is ensured via a staircase from the main corridor. There, there is a gym, a sleeping room, hygiene facilities, and a large common room with a kitchenette for training, councils, committees, lectures, etc. From the corridor, one can reach a small terrace above the main entrance with a view of the space in front of the fire station.
