Goldfinger – a bar in the space is quite nice

Goldfinger – a bar in the space is quite nice
Address: Lindengasse 53, Wien, Austria
Project:2006
Completion:2007
Area:90 m2

In the basement of the space schon schön, where a Chinese restaurant (Karaoke) used to be, Sue Architekten created a new bar called Goldfinger. The main area is dominated by sparkling gold seating, composed of various elements that allow flexible configurations. As a result, the space can be used with subdued lighting as a night bar, as well as a dance area or a place for DJ events. The prevailing theme of the ground floor – the enjoyment of food at one table – is further developed in the basement.
The seating meanders through the space, creating open areas suitable for communication, as well as cozy intimate nooks. Testing has shown that this arrangement satisfies the need for private conversation as well as the desire to stay in touch with others. The owner's request also included having a smoking "mafia lounge" within the space - hogofogo, a cozy protected space that we call die Schnecke (snail), gives visitors a chance to distance themselves from the surroundings. It is a private area where guests can somewhat decadently order another bottle of champagne by pressing a button.
Unlike the main space schon schön on the ground floor, the bar is not deprived of effects: the floral patterned upholstery deliberately evokes images from Vienna's bars at the end of the 19th century, thus capturing the moods of fin-de-siècle; the sparkling gold upholstery then offers a touch of indulgence, which three friends are waiting for.
